Suddenly two of my machines started to not synchronize my emails from Exchange 2010 server. I noticed it on one machine first but didn't really bother with it since I was using them on my phone. Then my laptop did the same and started crying about not being compliant with the security policy. Weird.

What's even stranger is that I have several accounts on that server. The others were just fine. Nothing the matter. And even stranger, I could open every other folder on the "broken" account than inbox. No problems. Everything's fine.

I spent quite a long time trying to find issues in logs, settings, rebooting machine, checking files for corruptions etc. I readded my account and strangely I got five emails from inbox, even though I still got the complaint about security policy. So maybe it's a content issue?

I moved all emails arrived within the last week from the inbox to a temporary folder. Immediately synchronization worked. No issues with policies. Butterflies and sunshine. Moved emails one by one to inbox. Immediately appeared. Until I got to one email. Then it broke again.

What is the culprit? It's a log check that had a bit too much content. On Outlook Web Access it hangs the browser for ages and cannot really be shown. It's that big. text/plain. iOS Mail app just says "This message cannot be displayed because of the way it is formatted." So it's not just Windows 10 Mail, it's other clients also.

I guess sending huge plaintext emails isn't something that should be done. But surely it shouldn't break the mail client and make it give completely wrong error messages. So this should be fixed.

The message was actually 50MB when I saved it from Outlook 2016. It couldn't show the actual message either. But at least it didn't show random errors.

Reporting it to Microsoft so they can fix it.
2017-07-04T14:49:00+00:00SamiI ran into a very strange issue. So many. And this reason is total bullshit. Why? Let me explain.

It's 2016. How do people use the Internet? From PCs, laptops, smartphones, fridges, you name it. If you are browsing for a gift on your phone, it's your phone. Nobody else should have access to it really, unless you want them to. So there's little need to have incognito mode because of shopping on that. You could also use apps for shopping, so even less so.

We use PCs. They're personal. If it's a shared one, I'm sure you have separate accounts set up on it. You haven't? Why the heck not? You don't want to personalize it the way that suits you? You're using a system where separate accounts are difficult to use? There still are those? So, again, no real need for incognito mode when you're browsing, since you can't see each other's history anyway.

You have computers at work usually. Again, you have your own account and the recipient of the present most likely doesn't have access to it. No real need for incognito mode for present browsing there either.

So do tell me why you need incognito mode because you want to surprise someone with a present. Really, do tell. I can't think of any.

And yes, I can think of other reasons to use incognito mode. I'm not saying it shouldn't exist. It has uses. But this particular reason always pops up and is totally pointless reason for that mode to exist.

However, if you are browsing some nauhgty sites on the Internet and want to hide that from your partner, ask yourself why do you have to. If your partner isn't ok with your Internet habits, there might be a problem that cannot be overcome by hiding things. That's never a good idea.
2016-03-08T13:05:00+00:00SamiHow many times have you seen the explanation "I need incognito/private mode because I might be buyinhttp://blog.samikuhmonen.fi/pingback.axdhttp://blog.samikuhmonen.fi/post.aspx?id=6323d9fc-5c10-4296-a6e6-72e6978094800http://blog.samikuhmonen.fi/trackback.axd?id=6323d9fc-5c10-4296-a6e6-72e697809480http://blog.samikuhmonen.fi/post/2016/03/08/your-reasons-for-incognito-mode-are-bullshit-and-you-know-it#commenthttp://blog.samikuhmonen.fi/syndication.axd?post=6323d9fc-5c10-4296-a6e6-72e697809480
